There’s a scorching selection on ARROW this June, with a pair of new unmissable Korean thrillers that’ll take you to the darkest depths imaginable, an unforgettably savage journey into the remote mountains of France, an epic spaghetti western from Takashi Miike, a rediscovered supernatural sword-fighting gem, The Nun director Corin Hardy choosing from the ARROW catalogue, and much, much more.

June kicks off with a two Korean genre titles, exclusively on ARROW - Devils, an intense and intriguing debut from writer/director Kim Jae-hoon, featuring a cop/serial killer body swap plot device packed with twists and action - think Face/Off meets Silence of the Lambs; and Body Parts, an inventive and dread-drenched anthology, featuring five grisly and gruesome tales, all with the theme of ritual and sacrifice. Make sure you watch them on ARROW.

There’s more from Korea on ARROW in June, with The Foul King, where celebrated Korean filmmaker Kim Jee-woon (A Tale of Two Sisters) resurrects his childhood wrestling idols in this uproarious comedy, with Song Kang-ho (Parasite) providing hard-hitting laughs and thrills on and off the mat; and Chaser, with director Na Hong-jin (The Wailing) upending the serial killer thriller with the most searing debut film in all of Korean cinema, a bristling masterclass in defying expectations that drags you down to the depths of despair. With a stellar cast including Kim Yoon-seok (The Yellow Sea), Seo Young-hee (Bedevilled), and Ha Jung-woo (The Handmaiden), The Chaser was a box office sensation that instantly established itself as a modern classic and launched the careers of its director and stars.

Next in June, ARROW is proud to present an unseen Japanese gem: there’s mysterious sprites, eerie supernatural goings on and heroic sword-fighting action in The Invisible Swordsman, a mystical tale of vengeance and adventure from the makers of the Zatoichi, Daimajin and Yokai Monsters films. Directed by Yoshiyuki Kuroda (Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare), and beautifully shot by Hiroshi Imai (The Haunted Palace), the film boasts a sumptuous attention to its historical setting, costume design, fight choreography and period details, all with an added dose of rip-roaring fantasy and adventure.

And don’t miss Sukiyaki Western Django, from famed Japanese auteur Takashi Miike (Audition), where he redefines the spaghetti Western with an epic tale of blood, lust and greed, with an ensemble cast including Hideaki Ito, Yusuke Iseya, Kaori Momoi, and a surprise appearance by legendary director Quentin Tarantino, who previously commented that “the only actual subscription that I have is ARROW. Cause that’s a bunch of cool s★★★”.

Also streaming in June, Calvaire, a gripping, utterly involving thriller that has drawn comparisons to Deliverance and The Hills Have Eyes. Directed by Fabrice du Welz, and starring Laurent Lucas (Raw) as a travelling cabaret singer Marc Stevens who finds himself stranded when his van breaks down in a remote mountain region in France, Calvaire will put you through the wringer.

Si-kyung, the youngest reporter, infiltrates an unnamed religious group. Invited to a special ceremony, she witnesses strange things happening in the prayer house. Five sacrifices and five stories are offered by the people who desperately wait to be heard by their god. When the story is over, she too must make a sacrifice.

DEVILS

Having lost his colleague to a serial murderer two years ago, homicide detective Jae-hwan is unable to contain his hatred toward the murderer and dives headfirst into hunting the brutal killer. Jae-hwan finally comes face to face with the murderer Jin-hyuk but in the heat of the chase, they get into an accident. Waking up in a hospital, Jae-hwan realizes his body has been switched with that of the murderer. To protect his family and uncover the secret of this body switch, Jae-hwan, who's trapped in the murderer's body, begins a desperate chase.

THE FOUL KING

After being submitted one too many times to his macho boss’s headlocks, perpetually tardy city bank clerk Dae-ho looks to the past to secure his future—the wrestling stars of his youth. Chil-sam, the sour coach of a gym long past its prime, is reluctant to take him on, until an unscrupulous promoter twists his arm into training a new “Foul King”. The desperate Dae-ho fits the bill and learns all the dirty tricks he’ll need to survive inside and outside of the ring.

THE CHASER

Ex-cop-turned-pimp Joong-ho (Kim Yun-seok, The Yellow Sea) is having a very bad week—someone is stealing his girls, or so he thinks. After Mi-jin (Seo Young-hee, Bedevilled) becomes the latest of his workers to disappear he begins a search that will quickly lead him to the dead-eyed Young-min (Ha Jung-woo, The Handmaiden), who is exactly what he appears to be—a despicable murderer. When Young-min flaunts his crimes to the inept and ineffectual police, Joong-ho has to take matters into his own hands.

Two clans battle for a legendary treasure hidden in a desolate mountain town. One day, a lone gunman, burdened with deep emotional scars but blessed with incredible shooting skills, drifts into town. Two clans try to woo the lone gunman to their sides, but he has ulterior motives. Dirty tricks, betrayal, desire and love collide as the situation erupts into a final, explosive showdown.

Travelling cabaret singer Marc Stevens (Laurent Lucas), finds himself stranded when his van breaks down in a remote mountain region in France, but is rescued by local innkeeper Mr. Bartel (Jackie Berroyer) who offers to help Marc fix his van and give him shelter for the night. But Bartel is fragile and unstable, and Marc reminds him of his long lost wife. Soon, Bartel is refusing to let Marc leave. With his van sabotaged and no means of calling for help, Marc’s ordeal is about to begin…

FROM JUNE 23: THE INVISIBLE SWORDSMAN

In Edo-era Japan, Sanshiro diligently hones his sword-fighting technique at the kendo dojo, but no amount of practice can hide the fact that he is both clumsy and cowardly. When his samurai father falls prey to a gang of murderous phantom thieves while on night watch duties, Sanshiro is drawn to the banks of the Sanzu River that separates the worlds of the living and the dead. Here he encounters a strange being that introduces itself as a Shokera. The otherworldly apparition offers advice on how Sanshiro can avenge his father with the aid of a mysterious potion with the power to turn him invisible. But first Sanshiro must gather the ingredients, and his father’s killers might be closer to home than he thinks.
