ARROW - November 2025 Line-up

KUNG FU GOES OUT OF THIS WORLD ON ARROW THIS NOVEMBER

Out on:VOD 7th Nov. 2025

Get ready for some seriously out of this world streaming on ARROW this November - with six fantastic, action-packed, weird and wonderful films from the Shaw Brothers studio, including a rare Hong Kong sci-fi extravaganza; a definitive and definitely steamy documentary on straight-to-video erotic thrillers, an in depth look at the wildly popular Child’s Play franchise, and a curated selection by the award-winning documentary filmmaker Alexandre O. Philippe.

Brace yourselves this November for more movie madness from Hong Kong’s mightiest film studio Shaw Brothers on ARROW. As special effects-driven horror and sci-fi cinema dominated the global box office in the 1970s, Shaw Brothers not only followed suit but took things one step beyond! ARROW are streaming some of the wildest and weirdest films the company ever made - Super Inframan - one of Shaws’ most beloved cult classics, that none other than Roger Ebert called “a classy, slick production by the Hong Kong kung fu kings”, starring Danny Lee (The Killer) as the titular high-kicking superhero, defending the planet against a demon queen and her legion of subterranean mutant minions; Battle Wizard - Danny Lee again as the prince granted magical powers in Pao Hsueh-li’s fantastical wuxia; the incredible fight fantasy Demon of the Lute; Portrait in Crystal - a deliriously imaginative tale of a murderous swordswoman brought to life through a crystal sculpture, directed by Super Inframan director Hua Shan; and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, an extremely rare example of science fiction Hong Kong-style, and it is unlike any sci-fi flick you’ve ever seen before. Gorgeously restored in all their gory glory with an amazing array of never-seen-before bonus features, this is streaming heaven for fans off the offbeat, extreme and irrepressibly entertaining. All these films (and more) have been newly remastered by ARROW for their upcoming SHAWSCOPE VOLUME 4 Blu-ray box set, available from 8th December and packed with exclusive extras.

Also in November, We Kill for Love, an unmissable documentary charting the irresistible rise of the direct-to-video erotic thriller, the steamy American film genre that once dominated late night cable television and the shelves of neighborhood video stores. Director Anthony Penta delves deep into the heart and soul of a forgotten and often maligned film movement, with contributions from the likes of actors Andrew Stevens (erotic thriller mainstay and star/writer/producer of Night Eyes, featured in the film), Monique Parent (Dark Secrets) and Amy Lindsay (Forbidden Sins). Nominated for a 2024 Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Documentary, the film is described by Eye For Film as “thoughtful and insightful”, while Dread Central says it “as fascinating as it is informative”.

Then there’s Living With Chucky, a fascinating look at the groundbreaking Child’s Play franchise from the perspective of Kyra Elise Gardner, a filmmaker who grew up within it - she is the daughter of Chucky puppeteer Tony Gardner. Among those appearing are actors Brad Dourif (the voice of Chucky), Finoa Dourif (Chucky), Jennifer Tilly (Bride of Chucky), and franchise creator Don Mancini, as well as cult film legend John Waters, who appears in Seed of Chucky and the Chucky TV series. Collider calls the film “a thoughtful study of how filmmaking, especially independent filmmaking, brings people together”.

Seasons in November include:

Alexandre O. Philippe Selects, with the award-winning documentary filmmaker (Chain Reactions, 78/52, Lynch/Oz) chooses his ARROW favourites, including THE ENDLESS, The PUSHER Trilogy, KEOMA, INCUBUS, and an extended intro from Alexandre O. Philippe, among many more!

NOVEMBER TITLES - IN DEPTH

FROM NOVEMBER 7: WE KILL FOR LOVE

Sizzling documentary that goes in search of the forgotten world of the direct-to-video erotic thriller, an American film genre that once dominated late night cable television and the shelves of neighborhood video stores. Balancing film art with scholarship, it pulls back the curtain to reveal the heart and soul of a forgotten and often maligned film movement.

FROM NOV 14: LIVING WITH CHUCKY

An in-depth look at the groundbreaking Child’s Play franchise from the perspective of a filmmaker who grew up within it - her Dad was the puppeteer of Chucky!

FROM NOV 21: SUPER INFRAMAN

It’s pint-sized Godzillas fighting a Chinese superhero in one of Hong Kong’s most fantastical films ever: Super Inframan! Mixing motorbike shenanigans with mind-boggling fight choreography, a young Danny Lee (internationally known from John Woo’s The Killer) must save the earth from legions of demons and monsters from the Earth’s center led by the blonde-haired Demon Princess.

FROM NOV 24: BATTLE WIZARD

A brother who loves books and a sister who loves swords must face a yellow-robed warrior, the Red Python, a sinuous snake-charmer, and a silk-masked beauty (who must kill or wed the first man to see her face) before they can bring peace to their battle-addled family in this special, cliché-smashing production.

DEMON OF THE LUTE

A beautiful fight fantasy of lute demons, magical arrows, bottomless abysses, an arduous quest, hermaphrodites, a villain named ‘Red-Haired Evil’, and a mischievous knight named “Old Naughty.” This hair-raising wuxia fantasia has to be seen to be believed.

PORTRAIT IN CRYSTAL

A mystical mass murderer is loose in the underworld. Noble Pai Piao discovers that the killings are the work of a living statue trained to assassinate by the titular demon… and that more murderous statues are on their way if he doesn’t stop them. The poison darts and booby traps start flying as the heroes struggle to discover the real kung-fu criminal behind the deaths.

TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR

The gorgeous Cherie Chung is the victim of an alien abduction; the wacky Yi Lei is a detective whose strange behavior makes him want to leave this world and enter the next. A chance encounter leads the two to enter a suicide pact, with results that touch on such issues as the nature of fame and the reality of science fiction. It’s truly out of this world, and one of the more unusual movies to emerge from the New Wave that swept Hong Kong cinema in the early 1980s.
