ARROW - October 2025 Line-up

Celebrate Gialloween this October

Out on:VOD 3rd Oct. 2025

GORY GIALLOS, GHOSTLY J-HORROR TREATS, A TRIO OF SPINE-TINGLING TALES, EXPLOITATION CLASSICS & MORE

A truly terrifying line-up of films are streaming on ARROW this October - or should we say “GIALLOWEEN” - including a season of shocking Giallos, the return of a J-horror master, two electrifying anthologies, shot-on-video madness, a David Friedman drive-in gem, two Argento classics, Rue Morgue Selects, and much more.

For the most chilling month of the year, ARROW presents GIALLOWEEN, a curated collection showcasing the very best of Italian horror already lying in wait for you on the service. Featuring Dario Argento classics like the notorious video nasty Tenebrae, his genre-defining The Bird with the Crystal Plumage and Deep Red, alongside a host of other classic Giallo titles, don’t miss this chance to learn more about this iconic era of horror.

Also in October, new and exclusive on ARROW - SANA and its sequel SANA: LET ME HEAR, superbly suspenseful new J-horror from legendary director Takashi Shimizu. Over two decades since he terrified the world with Ju-On: The Grudge, Shimizu delivers a genuinely chilling reminder of why he’s one of the defining voices of J-Horror. SANA, starring J-Pop supergroup 'GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE' playing fictionalised versions of themselves, and SANA: LET ME HEAR, starring former NMB48 member Nagisa Shibuya in her feature film debut. Together, the films remix the genre’s celebrated hallmarks in a way that wouldn’t feel out of place in a playlist of the classics, while also exciting new viewers. You won’t get them out of your head!

October continues with the seriously spooky - dive into the ultimate omnibus of horror with Three and the sequel Three... Extremes. A trio of ghostly tales of terror, each from a different country, forms the anthology Three, directed by South Korean filmmaker Kim Jee-woon (A Tale of Two Sisters), Thai filmmaker Nonzee Nimibutr (Nang Nak), and Hong Kong filmmaker Peter Ho-Sun Chan. Initiated by acclaimed Hong Kong producer and director Peter Ho-Sun Chan, the film would prove highly influential in its innovative approach to pan-Asian horror, and lead to the shockingly compelling sequel, Three... Extremes, directed by Fruit Chan (Made in Hong Kong), Park Chan-wook (Oldboy), and Takashi Miike (Audition).

There’s not much that can prepare you for the 80s shot-on-video favourite, Boardinghouse. John Wintergate’s crazy trash classic was one of the first full length SOV films - and for that alone deserves its place in film history. Bleeding Skull declares “this is an entertaining and important film”. Book into this boardinghouse early and remember to leave a review on TripAdvisor!

There’s another offbeat classic in October. Featuring a new restoration is She Freak, a reworking of Tod Browning’s Freaks from exploitation producer David F. Friedman (Blood Feast). A warped tale of life, love, and revenge on the grounds of a seedy carnival. Directed by Byron Mabe, and written by Friedman, it features a feisty performance from Claire Brennan and an ending you’ll never forget.

Also streaming in October: Gripping horror All You Need is Death, about a mysterious and dangerous folk ballad, Takeshi Miike’s ghostly J-horror Over Your Dead Body, Larry Fessenden’s modern day retelling of Frankenstein in Departed, macabre psychological drama Family Dinner, and a hilarious and bloody comedy horror A Most Atrocious Thing.

Seasons in October include:

Rue Morgue Selects, where the editorial team at the leading horror film magazine make their ARROW Halloween picks, including Spider Baby, Pulse and Calvaire.

Gialloween, a chance to spend this Halloween with stylish black-gloved killers who leave a trail of dead bodies in order to cover up crimes of passion, including Tenebrae, Deep Red and The Killer Reserved Nine Seats.

New Seasons this October

OCTOBER 7: RUE MORGUE SELECTS

The editorial team at Rue Morgue magazine, part of the world’s leading horror in culture and entertainment brand, make their ARROW Halloween picks.
"For someone to take me up on a horror movie suggestion is deeply gratifying. For them to enjoy it? Sublime!” says Andrea Subissati, Executive Editor of Rue Morgue. “And so, it’s with a weird mix of vulnerability and pride that I share these selects, and I’m so grateful to ARROW Selects for not only giving me the opportunity to do so, but for having such an expansive catalog to pick and choose from. Selecting the fright flicks was easy – describing them here is proving to be a bit trickier. The best I can do to articulate my taste in horror is to say I like movies that make me feel changed, rattled, shaken and not stirred.”
Titles include: Spider Baby, Pulse, Calvaire

OCTOBER 17: GIALLOWEEN

Halloween is usually a time for creepy killers in scary masks hacking up teenagers for no discernible reason. Why not spend this Halloween with stylish black-gloved killers who leave a trail of dead bodies in order to cover up crimes of passion?
This Halloween, forget the monsters and the slashers and enjoy some of the best Giallo films ever made in new restorations that make these important and influential films just as terrifying as they were back in their heyday. Just don't turn the lights off, because you never know who's lurking around the corner...
Titles include: What Have They Done To Your Daughters?, Tenebrae, The Bird With The Crystal Plumage, Deep Red, The Killer Reserved Nine Seats

OCTOBER TITLES - IN DEPTH

But, after inadvertently eating tainted deer meat, friends become foes and transform into demonic flesh craving zombies who want nothing more than to tear the group limb from limb.

DEPRAVED

A disillusioned field surgeon who is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder makes a man out of body parts and brings him to life in a Brooklyn loft.

FROM OCT 10: SHE FREAK

A waitress leaves the greasy-diner business for the excitement of the carnival, where she quickly discovers that she despises freaks and human oddities in this newly restored 60s exploitation classic.

BOARDINGHOUSE

In this 80s shot-on-video favourite, a boarding house is reopened years after gruesome murders were committed there. Suddenly, the body count begins once more!

ALL YOU NEED IS DEATH

A young couple, who are a part of a secret organization, travel at night with the desire to discover forbidden knowledge. They believe that living, modern alchemy is contained in old, forgotten songs. When they find an elderly, mysterious woman who sings songs that have never been heard before, they open the door to an ancient evil and madness.

FROM OCT 10: WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT

WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT

The year is 1974 and the Maynard family has moved into their dream home. They soon discover that the house is already inhabited by a poltergeist. The attacks on the family are getting worse. The spirit must be driven out with exorcism.

FROM OCT 24: THREE

Korean genre maestro Kim Jee-woon (A Tale of Two Sisters) opens Three with Memories, where a husband and wife with no memory of how they fell apart discover the terrifying truth behind their separation. In Thai filmmaker Nonzee Nimibutr’s (Queens of Langkasuka) tale of guilt and jealousy, The Wheel, a puppeteer fears his marionettes are possessed by the spirits of those he has wronged. Finally, in Peter Ho-Sun Chan’s Going Home, a widowed police officer and his young son move into a new apartment and uncover the chilling secret behind their new neighbour and his seemingly comatose wife.

THREE… EXTREMES

Three... Extremes’ unforgettable first story, Dumplings, directed by celebrated filmmaker Fruit Chan (Made in Hong Kong), sees an aging actor discover that the dumplings she’s been eating for their miraculous rejuvenating benefits contain an unsavoury secret ingredient. Next, in Korean legend Park Chan-wook’s (Oldboy) segment Cut, a wealthy filmmaker is caught in a twisted game when a vindictive actor takes his wife hostage. Finally, Japanese Master of Horror Takashi Miike’s (Audition) segment, Box, sees a novelist plagued by nightmares of her past as a child circus performer with her long-lost twin sister, until she receives a mysterious invitation to return to the site of her old circus.

OVER YOUR DEAD BODY

Fiction begins to bleed into reality for actors (Ebizo Ichikawa, Ko Shibasaki, Hideaki Ito) as they rehearse a stage production of a classic Japanese ghost story.

FROM OCT 27: SANA

Starring J-Pop supergroup 'Generations from Exile Tribe' playing fictionalised versions of themselves, Sana sees the bandmembers discover a mysterious cassette tape containing only a simple melody. But this earworm comes with sinister consequences, as anyone who hears the tune becomes compelled to constantly hum it and finds themselves plagued with horrifying ghostly visions. The band, their manager and a world-weary detective must team up to uncover the mystery behind the tape and save themselves from falling under its malignant spell.

SANA: LET ME HEAR

A group of high school students are taking extra classes during the summer holidays when one of them suddenly jumps off the school roof in a grim reminder of a similar incident that happened at the same school 30 years prior.
